Mold is a fungus that is common throughout our environment, both indoors and outdoors. Mold travels about in the air as a spore, they are light weight and extremely small, only visible under a microscope. When the spores land on a moist surface they can begin to grow resulting into a typical blemished looking dark surface in moisture laden areas within your home such as: bathrooms, basements and/or water damaged areas.

Keep Mold From Growing in Your Home:
- Inspect it periodically for water leaks from plumbing, any water damage from rain and/or flooding, or condensation within the home.
- It’s imperative to fix the leaks as quickly as possible whether around windows, plumbing fixtures, etc., thoroughly clean and dry the wet areas.
- Control the humidity levels though ventilation or measures to absorb the moisture.
- Humidity levels should be between 30% and 50%
- Use an air conditioner or dehumidifier
- Use exhaust fans that vent outside, ensure your clothes dryer vents outside
How to Remove Mold From Your Home:
Typically, mold abatement companies will insist that complete removal of the mold affected areas is the only method to remove mold in affected areas such as: carpet, insulation, ceiling tiles and drywall. That may or may not be true, it depends on a host of variables, mostly the amount of moisture that affected an area and the amount of mold growth.
